Peening Hammer with Polished Lentil Face
To be used with narrow anvil. Rounded edges prevent scythe damage. 600 g is the ideal hammer weight when peening good quality scythes.
The hammer flat (not the nose) is polished to prevent teering of a fine scythe edge. It trully allows to peen good quality steel scythe all the way "to zero" thickness. The rounded edges prevent damage in case of minor peening errors. We suggest you use the flat center to strike the scythe while peening. The handle is firmly fitted to the hammer and promises many years of service.
The handle is shorter than with normal hammers which gives us more space, control and feel for the job.
With 600 g hammer you don't have to use much strength. Just take advantage of the gravity.
This hammer is made of C45 high carbon steel and is hardened to 50 - 55 HRC.
This hammer is designed to be used in harmony with the narrow ViaNatura or Fux anvils.
